Poetry Panel Project Reflection

When Mrs. Feldkamp initially introduced to us that we were going to have a Poetry Panel Project I was immediately concerned. We had already started doing some poetry and I was interested in becoming better at understanding but in the back of my head, I still had my doubts as to whether I was going to like this or not. Though I can safely say now that I shouldn't have any doubt, to begin with. After reading the poem, Crossing the Bar, that my group member Ethan had selected for us I got the gist of what it was about such as how the author wanted to display the message of not fearing death but there was a small part, not a big part, of me that wanted to delve deeper into finding what poetic devices he used and how they created the many affects shown inside of the poem. After further analyzing the poem and seeing the analyses from my group members I could further appreciate the devices used in the poem to create an everlasting meaning that is honestly one we should all understand in this day and age. After seeing the presentation of my classmates I was able to see how they analyzed certain poems which got me even more interested in poetry. While I still would rather read about any other sort of literature besides poetry I can truly say after doing this presentation that if I ever read poetry again, which I most likely will, I will be able to view it in a way that spurs learning and find a message that can value greatly.
