Polite Speech

In today's world, people in our community tend to use redundant phrases such as "How are you?," "Nice to meet you," or "Let's get in touch" to make ourselves appear more polite and mannerly to one another. Though if someone were to use this polite speech they may come off as very friendly and pleasant, but there isn't really a way to tell if they really care about you or whether they just don't want to be rude. Since we use these phrases over and over again they almost become meaningless to the point in which we must ask ourselves, id there even value to it?

Don't take this the wrong way, I am a firm believer in that we should always try to act nicer and more polite to people that we talk too, it's just that I feel like it's getting overused to a certain extent. I have been to many parties, weddings, and social gatherings in my life. From a young age till now I have always felt like I have been forced to ask others "How have they been" or "We should see each other again sometime" even though I have no intention of wanting to speak or see that person again. I am very certain that I am not the only one who has had a situation like this. We are constantly being forced to create a fake appearance for ourselves so others can perceive us as being perfect. Again I believe that being polite is a good characteristic for people to have, it is just that when overused, it starts to lose its true essence.
