What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas

Image result for las vegasLas Vegas, mostly referred to as just Vegas, isn't just the most populated city in the state of Nevada for nothing. The slogan "What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas" isn't just for show either, there are a lot of things that go down in this city that you would probably not see anywhere else in the United States of America. You may have already heard many wild stories that have originated from this place, but there are still many that you most likely don't know about such as the customs of weddings in this area. For example, in Didion's essay "Marrying Absurd," she states that to get married "one must put up five dollars for the license" though on "Sundays and Holidays, fifteen dollars". Most would assume that if a couple were going to get married they would at least spend a couple of thousands of dollars, while in Vegas the maximum cost is fifteen dollars and "Nothing else is required". The Clark County Courthouse can issue marriage licenses at "any time of the day or night" except "between noon and one", eight and nine", and "between four and five in the morning" for no true reason at all. Didion even encountered a wedding party that was taking place in a "Strip restaurant" in Vegas. The bride at the party was actually "too young to be served" alcohol at the restaurant. The people in Vegas get married so quickly and impulsively that they are almost like "cattle" not people. What this place truly boils down to is a city that is separated from the rest of the world in which people can play games, have fun, and forget about all of their responsibilities.
